What a moment it was! A moment that the entire nation was waiting for, scenes that everyone of us shall remember for the rest of our lives and those emotions..ah! Not much has been happening in our country lately that make us proud. When we the people were fed up of all the shit that keeps news channels busy 24X7, this could bring a lot of smiles all over the nation. A world cup victory in a game that is given more importance than anything else. What else would you ask for! Ofcourse when people who have no expertise in anything related to cricket were debating on TV on what decisions Dhoni or anyone should've taken or should take, much more than Dhoni himself, it did irritate but we did the same with our friends! So, chalo maaph kiya!
Now all of a sudden there's a sense of nothingness; as if 'gone are the days of fun', as if there's nothing interesting left in our lives, as if there's nothing left to do, as if it's time to 'relax'. While I was of the opinion that our 'boys' play too much cricket and this has adverse effects on their performance, now it appears like playing so much of cricket has in fact helped them. So, the more you play, more it is good as long as you are physically fit. I could sense that each one of them tried to learn from every match they played and tried to improvise. They struggled in the initial stages of the tournament and before we lost hope completely, they bounced back and see what they've done finally!
For all those cricket fans who are a little upset about the 'nothingness' I was talking about, they know there's a good news. IPL shall begin next week and all the cricketing action would be back. I don't watch IPL matches. So I'd probably envy you all!
However I'm curious to see people's reaction to the IPL matches this time. When the team that has made us all so proud or when the teams that have made their own countries so proud in some way or the other shall be literally broken into pieces and will be mixed so so randomly and shall be made to play against each other with no clear idea of who or what they are representing and shall be playing for money and only money, I want to see how we the cricket fans react. I mean, imagine Yuvi being stumped by Dhoni and a lot of other such scenes. Pain!
I was fed up of hearing about tales of Kapil Dev's heroism and how his team has made my mom's generation so proud. When people make so much fuss about something you can't even repent for not witnessing, it does irritate. No, sometimes I too have felt proud and have tried to pretend as if I too know it all but now, I've something to cheer about, tell my kids and make them feel they missed something big.
However, I doubt if I'd succeed because by then, there'd probably be a big tournament every month. World cup in January, IPL season n in February, T20 world cup in march, T30 in April and so on. So the kids would say, "hmmm must have been exciting but you have been missing finals every month. We can't tell you how thrilling it was last month!". Phew.
